Position:
CORPORATE SECURITY MANAGER
General Statement of Duties:
This is a responsible supervisory security management
position which will require an aggressive individual
who will oversee and coordinate all security efforts
across a mid sized cruise management company,
including information technology, human resources,
communications, facilities management, reservations
call center, on board ship security teams and
other groups, and will identify security initiatives,
policies and set standards. Individual must
have a clear understanding of modern security
principles, anti-terrorism procedures and the
ISPS Code as it applies to both ship and port
facilities security operations.
Principle Activities/Responsibilities:
- Identify existing security weaknesses and
execute solutions for corporate-level improvements
in security, safety, quality control, productivity
and overall cost reduction.
- Oversee a network of security personnel and
vendors who safeguard the company's assets,
intellectual property and ships, as well as
the physical safety of employees and visitors.
- Identify protection goals and objectives
consistent with corporate strategic plan and
produce the corporate security strategic plan.
- Manage the development and implementation
of global security policy, standards, guidelines
and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance
of security.
- Maintain relationships with local, state,
federal and international enforcement agencies
and other related government services focused
on maritime security.
- Oversee the investigation of security breaches
and assist with disciplinary and legal matters
associated with such breaches as necessary.
- Work with outside consultants as appropriate
for independent security audits.
- Evaluate capital security equipment investments,
establish the corporate security budget and
justify annual cost estimates.
- Advise the level of threats likely to be encountered
by the corporate facilities and ships, using
appropriate security assessments and other relevant
information.
- Ensure the development, submission for approval,
and thereafter implementation and maintenance
of the company's SSAs and SSPs.
- Arrange for corporate-wide internal audits
and reviews of security activities.
- Arrange for the initial and subsequent verifications
of the company's ships by the administration
or the RSO.
- Ensure that deficiencies and non-conformities
identified during internal audits, periodic
reviews, security inspections and verifications
of compliance are promptly addressed and dealt
with in a prompt and effective manner.
- Ensure adequate training for all personnel
responsible for the security of the company's
assets, facilities and ships.
- Ensure consistency between security requirements
and safety requirements for all company facilities
and ships.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of five (5) years and preferably eight
(8) years experience in the management and supervision
of corporate-level security operations of a
200+ employee corporation.
- Clear understanding of the ISPS Code, SOLAS,
CFR, and maritime international laws. CSO, SSO
and PFSO certifications per ISPS Code is a plus.
- The position is largely self-directed, requires
supervision of at least twenty (20) security
team members and demands an ability to prioritize,
set and keep commitments and handle a changing
dynamic work environment.
- Time management skills, a demand for teamwork
and a commitment to quality are necessary skills.
